· How
do I publish my site to the
web server using FrontPage
with FPSE installed on the
server?
Publish Your
FrontPage Web to a Web
Server with FrontPage
Extensions
(Instructions may vary
slightly depending on
the version of FP you
are using.)
- In FrontPage, open
the Web you want to
publish.
- On the File
menu, click
Publish Web.
NOTE: For
additional information
if the Publish Web
command is unavailable,
click the article number

Publish Web Command
Unavailable and Appears
Dimmed
- In the
Publish Web
dialog box, type the
path of the destination
Web server. For example,
type
http://www.microsoft.com/myweb
- Click
Options to
expand the list of
options.
- Specify whether you
want to publish only
pages that have changed
or all pages.
- Click
Publish.
FrontPage attempts to
communicate with the
FrontPage Server
Extensions on the
destination Web server.
If the server extensions
are properly installed
on the destination
server, this is all you
need to do.
If the FrontPage Server
Extensions are not found
on the destination Web
server, the following
message appears:
The
server could not
complete your request.
Contact your Internet
service provider or Web
server administrator to
make sure that the
server has the FrontPage
Server Extensions
installed. For more
specific information,
click Details.
When you click
OK,
FrontPage returns you to
the Publish Web
dialog box.

· I
did not order FrontPage
Server Extensions nor do I
desire them, although I
still wish to use Microsoft
FrontPage to create and
upload my site to the
server. Is this possible?
Yes. If you are
publishing your site to
a server that does not
have FPSE installed, you
will need to publish
your site via FTP. If
you are not familiar
with this process, our
article on PUBLISHING
YOUR WEB SITE WITH
FRONTPAGE 2000 at
http://www.microsoftfrontpage.com/content/articles/pub_fp.html
should help walk you
through the process.
Since you will be
publishing through FTP
instead of http in this
case, your settings
should be something like
this:
Specify location to
publish your web to:
ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com/htdocs/
You will then be
prompted for the
username/password for
the FTP.
Keep in mind that
although you can post
pages made from
FrontPage in this way,
special features
designed into FP (such
as web forms, counters,
etc..) will not function
on an account without
FPSE installed on it. If
you desire a plan that
includes FPSE, contact
sales via support
ticket.
